Happy 75th Posthumous Birthday, Dad!

I recall our phone conversations quite vividly on this day last year; I got a chance to speak to you over the phone multiple times in a single day! I had woken up quite early because I wanted to get a chance to talk to you way before you got on (given the different time zones) with your special day.

I recall  the first phone conversation; the excitement in your voice, your laughter as we joked about the type of birthday cake you wanted, and I recall the resounding "Ameeen" in agreeance to my prayers of good health and a long and prosperous life for you....
I recall the second phone conversation; with your grandchildren, Derin and Juwon singing and wishing you a happy birthday...
I recall the third phone call, me, making sure that you were having a wonderful time on your special day....

I celebrate your life, Dad...
So lucky you were born this day...
So lucky to have been blessed by your wisdom...
So lucky to have had the privelege to call you my Dad!

Happy 75th Posthumous Birthday, Dad!

June 1, 2020: " Good Morning, Happy New Month and have a peaceful day". 

That was the last text message I received from you, dad. My response: " Digwo Sir! Happy new Month Sir!!"

Today, February 1, 2021, I woke up, expectant. I reached for my phone, expecting to see a text message from you with a prayer and a blessing for the new month.

For as long as I can remember, the first day of a new month was especially special! With the time difference between the continents we both lived in, It was always a joy for me to wake up, knowing that your prayers and blessings are ahead of me.
Always a reminder for me to pray, put God first, and commit the new month and everything into his hands. Always a comfort to know that both my earthly father, and my father in heaven cares for me, is there for me, prays blessings upon me and loves me!

Today, February 1, 2021, I woke up, expectant. I reached for my phone, and it dawned on me all over again that you are no longer in this earthly realm, and I will never receive another text message from you with a prayer and a blessing for the month.
But, I know that you are right there in the heavenly realm with my heavenly father watching over me, guideing me, praying blessings; over me, my husband, my children, my family, my siblings, our mum.

Happy new Month, Dad.

I would have made the long distance call again today to wish you a happy Father's Day dad,
I still have your number on speed dial.
I would have been waiting anxiously for the line to connect and to hear your voice dad,
I can still hear your voice clearly and precisely in my head.
I would have launched into a prayer of gratitude, praise and thanks for all you had done for me, my siblings and our mum as soon as the call connects,
I still am so very thankful to you for being the best dad I had ever known!
I would have asked about your well-being and what plans you had to celebrate Father's Day today dad,
But I know that you are resting well in the bosom of our Lord and you plan to still watch over us from heaven above and you will always be in our hearts to celebrate today and all other celebrations of Father's Day!

You were a great man dad.
You were a great father.
I miss you so very much dad!

We just want to sympathize with you in this difficult time. We pray that God will grant the entire family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss of grandpa. May his soul continue to rest in perfect peace. Be strong in the Lord.

We pray that the family he left behind will be comforted and that the father of the fatherless will give them strenght and fortitude to bear the loss.

Papa's death is a celebration of life and festive praise instead of despair; he lived a fulfilled life. Encourage yourself in the Lord.

Dear Becky, Femi & the family,

It was a huge shock to us hearing of Papa's demise. But we thank God for a life well spent and knowing he has gone to rest.
He was such a pleasant and easy going man. Good memories of him and his sense of humor. We love him but the Lord loves him most.
God will grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

It was shocking to hear the passing away of Papa Ibagere.

However, we thank God for a good life spent.

Our prayer is that God have mercy on him and rest his soul.

The almighty will comfort the entire bonded family papa left behind.
